Help for New Players
I know this site may seem daunting at first. Pretty much everything is an image-map and very little is technically labeled. This does have a purpose (so I can hide things in plain sight), but like I said, it can seem daunting. So for that reason, I wanted to make this handy little guide about everthing the world of Katrya, and more specifically the country of Sodoria offers.
Getting an Egg
It's an adoptable website, so surely you'd want an adoptable. Plus, you even start with 1000 gold pieces, so how do you get started?
You can get eggs from three places currently. Two locations are available directly from the world map, while the third requires an extra click into RavensWatch.
- Ursabeth's Observatory (labeled with a star on the main map)
- Arlo's Tower (labeled with a paw print on the main map)
- Callie's House (top-right corner in RavensWatch)
Once you get into one of these places, you simply click the eggs they have to open up their adoptable shop.
Wait... How Does the Map work?
I can't believe I almost forgot this, but to use the map, you simply click "Map" in the navigation bar and click where you want to go. Clickable locations on the main map are marked with a label.
Each building in a city is clickable. I waste no space.
Back to Creatures. I Have an Egg, Now What?
Once you get an egg, you have to get interactions to hatch it. You can interact with each egg on the site, yours or others, once per day, up to 1000 interactions. In turn, others can interact with your eggs, which will help them grow and gain health back.
To click another person's eggs, you just click the picture. To click your own eggs, you have to click the picture and then click "Level Up". It's the top option of the list.
Right now, you have to push the back button to get back to the list of eggs but I'm working on a fix to make it faster and more seamless.
The Berry Patch (and Eventually the Falls)
Once per day, you can go into the berry patch and find an item - either a berry or something small that can be used or sold. I would recommend keeping these small things (and maybe even the berries) for a reason I will get to in a moment. You cannot buy these items anywhere, but you can trade for them.
If it says you can't forage, but says you last foraged a different day than what the server says (server time in in your sidebar), refresh the page. If the last foraged date changed but it still doesn't seem to have given you the item, check your inventory anyway. It does that sometimes and I'm working on a fix.
Character Quests
Once per day, someone in Sodoria will have a quest for you. There's not really a quick way to find them other than clicking into the different buildings in the world, but that's beside the point right now. Maybe I'll make a quick cheat page later.
Anyway, even though a new quest is only added at max once per day, you can take as long as you want to complete the quest. That being said, you will not get a new quest until the server day after you skip or complete your current quest.
This is where those small items come in. Some chararacters want a lot of them...
Character quests are randomized between 8 characters with 5 quests each. Basically, if a character is visible on screen, it is possible for them to have a quest for you. Look for the hyperlink above the Character Map image.
Right now, Sammy is not implemented into the site, yet has a chance to "give you a quest". But Sammy doesn't have any quests right now, so you'll just have to skip it and wait for the next day.
Hero Quests
Once per day but take as long as you need, just like the Character Quests, the Hero Quests tend to offer higher prizes at higher levels. Level quests are linear, meaning when the top gets reached and there's nothing else to do, I need to get myself in gear and crank out a new quest. Right now there is only one, but besides the linear-ness of the quests, they're just like Character Quests.
You can find these quests on the bulletin board next to Anna in the Sleepy Foxx Tavern. This tavern can be found in the upper-left corner of RavensWatch with the weird SF sign.
The Battlegrounds
In SilverSprings, it's very difficult to not notice a giant building taking up half the image that says "Battle" on it. Those are the battlegrounds. Inside, you can train and battle with hatched creatures to earn gold pieces. (Creatures hatch at level 4.)
The battles are separated into Easy, Medium, and Hard. Money earned and obviously difficulty are tied to the labels.
Health
Every fight, even those you win, will cause your adoptable to lose a little health. When your adoptable's health drops to 20 or below, they will not want to fight anymore until they gain some health back.
To gain health, interact with, or have others interact with your adoptable. Alternatively, you can go to Gobgob's Potion Stall in RavensWatch to grab a health potion when he has them in stock.
The Arcade
In SilverSprings, another large portion of the screen is taken up by the arcade. Here's where you'll play games both for gold pieces and eventually just for fun. All games are labeled as giving daily rewards, monthly rewards, or no rewards.
Right now, we have two games.
Anyone may offer to submit a game that I can embed into the site. It has to be PG13 or lower and have no gore or scary bits. I'll obviously play them first before putting them on the site. When they are on the site, they are still your games, so you can have them removed at any point.
